Exceptional piece of British Interwar international postal history and extraordinary global entertainment/circus archival provenance from June 1928. This official British registered postal stationery envelope with a linen-backed paper structure represents a spectacular, historically significant artifact linking a theatrical agent in eastern Scotland directly with the leading German trade publication for variety, cabaret, and circus arts in Berlin during the Weimar Republic era.
The front side features a beautifully preserved layout pre-printed with a round, combined 4½d carmine-pink King George V registration fee and international postage stamp, explicitly inscribed "REGISTRATION THREE PENCE / POSTAGE THREE HALFPENCE". To fulfill the required international tariff rates, the envelope is supplemented with a standard adhesive King George V 1d red definitive stamp. Both stamps are flawlessly tied by two crisp strikes of the circular date stamp (CDS) from the historic Scottish county town: "FORFAR / 14 JU / 28" (June 14, 1928). The left margin retains its original, exceptionally clean blue registration label: "R FORFAR No. 5". The envelope is hand-addressed in a flowing commercial ink script to the prominent theatrical trade journal: "Au Das Programm G.m.b.H., Berlin S.W. 68, Zimmerstr. 7/8, Germany".
The reverse side displays the final processing backstamp confirming a remarkably swift transnational transit sequence across Europe. It features a bold, perfectly struck black circular arrival date stamp from the German capital's main distribution district: "BERLIN SW * 68 * 16.6.28. 22-23" (Received on June 16, 1928, between 10:00 PM and 11:00 PM), documenting a clean and secure two-day delivery into the Berlin SW68 postal zone directly to the Das Programm editorial archive files.
