De originele zilverprint is gesigneerd (rechtsonder) met een monogram in rode kleur.
De letter ‘e’ tussen de benen van de letter ‘H’.
Hannon was lid van de ’Association Belge de Photographie’.
In 1897 werd deze foto d.m.v. de fotogravure techniek gereproduceerd in de ‘Photographische Rundschau’.
Exact 100 jaar later neemt de Amerikaanse fotohistoricus John Wood ‘Sunbeams’ op in zijn boek ‘The Photographic Arts’, 1997.
Een mooi en bijzonder zeldzaam voorbeeld van picturalisme in de Belgische fotografie tijdens de Belle Epoque periode.
Édouard Hannon, beroepshalve ingenieur bij de Solvay groep, was een gepassioneerd ‘amateur fotograaf’.
Hannon liet zijn vriend / architect Jules Brunfaut een woonhuis bouwen in Brussel.
‘Maison Hannon’, een meesterwerk van de Art Nouveau architectuur, en momenteel te bezoeken als museum.
Op vraag van Hannon liet Brunfaut zich inspireren door de woonhuizen van Victor Horta.
In tegenstelling tot Léonard Misonne (een andere vertegenwoordiger van pictorialisme in de Belgische fotografie) ging Édouard Hannon niet de grote commerciële richting uit.
Picturalistische zilverdrukken van Hannon zijn daarom bijzonder zeldzaam in openbare én privé collecties.

The original silver print is signed (bottom right) with a monogram in red.
The letter 'e' between the legs of the letter 'H'.
Hannon was a member of the 'Association Belge de Photographie'.
In 1897, this photograph was reproduced using the photogravure technique in the 'Photographische Rundschau'.
Exactly 100 years later, American photo historian John Wood included 'Sunbeams' in his book 'The Photographic Arts', 1997.
A beautiful and particularly rare example of pictorialism in Belgian photography during the Belle Epoque period.
Édouard Hannon, an engineer by profession at the Solvay group, was a passionate amateur photographer.
Hannon had his friend, the architect Jules Brunfaut, build a house for him in Brussels.
‘Maison Hannon’, a masterpiece of Art Nouveau architecture, can now be visited as a museum.
At Hannon's request, Brunfaut drew inspiration from the houses designed by Victor Horta.
Unlike Léonard Misonne (another representative of pictorialism in Belgian photography), Édouard Hannon did not pursue a commercial career.
Hannon's pictorialist silver prints are therefore extremely rare in both public and private collections.

Le tirage argentique original est signé (en bas à droite) d'un monogramme rouge.
La lettre « e » se trouve entre les jambes de la lettre « H ».
Hannon était membre de ‘l'Association Belge de Photographie’.
En 1897, cette photo a été reproduite à l'aide de la technique de photogravure dans la « Photographische Rundschau ».
Exactement 100 ans plus tard, l'historien américain de la photographie John Wood inclut « Sunbeams » dans son livre « The Photographic Arts », 1997.
