DESCRIPTION

Released in June 1984, Purple Rain remains one of the most iconic albums of the 1980s — blending funk, rock, and pop with Prince’s distinctive production style. It served as the soundtrack to the motion picture of the same name, winning both Grammy Awards and an Academy Award for Best Original Score.
This is the original U.S. Columbia House club edition, issued for members of the mail-order record club. The back cover carries the rare “Manufactured by Columbia House Under License” line, confirming its unique retail channel. The sleeve features the classic cover photograph of Prince on his purple motorcycle, and a floral back design with gold handwritten lyrics.
Spine reads: “PRINCE AND THE REVOLUTION – MUSIC FROM THE MOTION PICTURE PURPLE RAIN.”
Printed and pressed in the U.S.A. by Warner Bros. Records for Columbia House distribution.

CONDITION

Factory sealed in original shrinkwrap.
Shrink & cardboard shows a tears along the bottom edge and spine, minor corner compression, but the jacket itself remains fully intact with sharp edges
No seam splits or significant wear visible through the wrap — a well-preserved and collectible sealed example.
