DESCRIPTION

Historic RCA Victor 78 rpm issue marking Elvis Presley’s second single on the label, originally released shortly after RCA acquired Presley’s Sun Records masters. “Good Rockin’ Tonight” (a Roy Brown composition first recorded by Wynonie Harris) was one of Elvis’s early Sun Studio recordings from 1954, paired here with the Mack David-penned “I Don’t Care If the Sun Don’t Shine.” Both tracks feature Scotty Moore (guitar) and Bill Black (bass), produced by Sam Phillips in Memphis and reissued here in RCA’s “New Orthophonic High Fidelity” mastering standard.

This 78 rpm pressing is part of the short-lived series issued in parallel with the 45 rpm format, intended for jukebox and radio distribution during 1955–1956. Collectors value this release highly as one of Elvis’s earliest major-label appearances prior to his 1956 chart breakthroughs.
