You can only make an automatic bid during an auction.

If you make a higher bid than the starting price (or than the current price of the item plus the additional bid), the system will record the amount as your ceiling. A bid (corresponding to the starting price of the sale or the current price of the item plus the higher bid) will be made on the sale.

If a member makes a bid which is higher than yours (without exceeding your ceiling), the system will automatically put in a higher bid for you. If one or more bids are made by other members, the system will make a higher bid for you within the ceiling set.

Can I delete my automatic bid?

If you entered an automatic bid and want to delete the ceiling recorded, you must make a bid equal to your last bid.

What happens if several members make an automatic bid?

If several members make an automatic bid:

  • The system will make a new bid for each member based on their ceiling.
  • Each bid made by the ceiling will be tagged with automatique.PNG
  • If two members make an identical automatic bid, the member who entered the bid first will take priority.
  • In the event of a high ceiling, the system may only display a summary of the bids made.

  • “Bidder #1” set the €10 ceiling first. As the first person to enter a bid, a starting price (€1) and a ceiling of €10 was set for the item.
  • "Bidder #2" then set a ceiling of €11.
  • Given that their bid is higher than the ceiling of “Bidder #1”, “Bidder #2” becomes the highest bidder and the offer made by “Bidder #2” raises the ceiling of “Bidder #1” which is displayed.
  • The €2 bid made by “Bidder #2” and the €3 bid by “Bidder #1”, etc. are not displayed. Only a summary of the most significant bids is displayed.
