CENTENNIAL OF THE ATHLETIC CLUB OLYMPIA.
The Athletic Club Olimpia is a Uruguayan sports club based in the Colón neighborhood, in the northern area of the city of Montevideo. His main sport is basketball, but he also participates in gymnastics, judo, swimming, water polo and bocce tournaments. It is commonly known as the red wings, those of the dome (by the dome that covers its basketball pavilion), or The White Machine. Olimpia achieved 8 times the federal tournament (1923, 1928, 1929, 1946, 1965, 1970, 1971, 1972). It is the seat of one of the groups of the South American League.
It was the first basketball team to obtain the title of South American champion in 1946, a championship organized in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Likewise, it is the Uruguayan team together with Defensor Sporting with more South American club tournaments obtained.

Su principal deporte es el básquetbol, pero también participa en torneos de gimnasia, judo, natación, waterpolo y bochas. Se lo conoce comúnmente como los alas rojas, los de la cúpula (por la cúpula que cubre su pabellón de básquetbol), o La Máquina Blanca. Olimpia logró 8 veces el torneo federal (1923, 1928, 1929, 1946, 1965, 1970, 1971, 1972). Es sede de uno de los grupos de la Liga Sudamericana.
Fue el primer equipo de básquetbol en obtener el título de campeón Sudamericano en el año 1946, campeonato organizado en la ciudad de Buenos Aires, Argentina. Así mismo, es el equipo Uruguayo junto con Defensor Sporting con más torneos Sudamericanos de clubes obtenidos.
