First Day Cover - Franklin D. Roosevelt 2c stamp - Commemorating the 2d anniversary of his death.

The addressed cover was mailed from Havana, Cuba, on April 12, 1947, the First Day of Issue of the stamp. The stamp on the cover was canceled with a "First Day of Issue" slogan killer.

The cachet, produced by Art Craft in black raised ink, shows an image of Franklin Roosevelt speaking into an array of microphones. Below the image is an image of two wreath branches surrounding the Cuban star. Next to the image are the words "In Memoriam / Franklin Delano Roosevelt" Below these words is a line drawing of the White House. To the left of that image is a quote from Roosevelt: "I call for effort, courage, sacrifice and devotion"

There is a return address stamped on the reverse side of the cover in black ink.

Size: 6 1/2 x 3 11/16 " The cover has never been sealed. It has been stained by the envelope glue.
