OLD COMRADES DINNER 1897 MENU SIGNED R CATON WOODVILLE INDIAN MUTINY 1857
Fine and rare menu designed by R. Caton Woodville (1856-1927), for the Prince\'s Restaurant 8th July 1897, for the surviving old comrades who took part in putting down the Indian Mutiny of 1857. The menu has been signed on the reverse by Woodville and 11 surviving comrades. Woodville joined The Illustrated London News and remained on its staff for almost 50 years, it saw him being sent to places such as Turkey, Egypt, South Africa and India and was a celebrated artist of his time and was a favourite of Queen Victoria despite his womanising ways.
