Special Offer!!! South Sudan MNH sets 2017 surcharged overprints due to substantial inflation on the 1st & 2nd set of the Republic of South Sudan, 22 stamps in total. First issue (2011) 1 SSP South Sudan flag and 3.5 Dr John Garang, father of the South Sudan resistance. Second issue was set to be released on the occasion of the First Anniversary of Independence on 9 July 2012, but actually issued only at the end of 2012 or early 2013 after much delay. The complete set consists of 6 stamps with values of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 SSP, showing birds, wildlife and the national Coat of Arms. Only the lowest values have been used for surcharged overprinting. All stamps of the 2nd issue include reference to the “First Anniversary of Independence 9 July 2012”. Details on the birds depicted on the different stamps are as follows: 1 SSP : Shoe-billed Stork (Balaeniceps rex); 2 SSP : Bearded Vulture or ‘Lammergeier' (Gypaetus barbatus); 5 SSP : Saddled Bill or Saddle-billed Stork (Ephippiorhynchus senegalensis).

The overprint on the 1 SSP birds comes in two varieties: serif and sans serif (of the "SSP" lettering).
