- Details: This picture shows the Dutch town of Hoorn on the Zuyder See as painted by G H Broughton. The harbour had silted up and so the quay was seldom used. The harbour master (to the left of the picture with his dog) had employed some young women to weed the quayside so that it looked better.

A quick note about grading postcards ...
This can sometimes be a little subjective and will vary slightly from person to person. I always try and be as honest and open as I can and try to highlight any obvious flaws. Below is the grading system I try to apply. These grades are intended as a guide only - a good sized scan of the card is always provided to allow you to make your own mind up as to the cards condition. If you ever need a more detailed scan just message me and I’ll get one to you.
Mint - As new, unposted, in pristine condition – a perfect card.
Excellent – The card looks clean and fresh with no obvious flaws or marks to the face. Corners should be sharp. If the card has been posted writing should not detract from appearance.
Very Good – The card may have minor defects such as album marks, minor, almost undetectable creases and slightly buffed corners. Signs of age and handling may be evident. A visually pleasing card.
Good - Noticeable damage caused by handling and wear may be apparent. The card may have minor creasing, small pin holes and postal defects that are not detrimental to image. Neat writing may appear on the face of the card.
Fair - Obvious creasing, staining, small tears, foxing or damage caused by damp evident. the card may have significant edge or corner damage or ink from cancellation marks that seriously detract from the image. Just about in a collectable state.
Poor - Incomplete, illustration seriously affected.
