The commemorative coin dedicated to the 25th anniversary of winning by the
football team Dinamo Tbilisi the UEFA Cup Winner´s Cup.
On May 13, 2006, the National Bank of Georgia issued a 2 lari denomination commemorative coin of silver and German silver to celebrate the 25th anniversary of winning of UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup by Dinamo Tbilisi in 1981.
Description of Coin:
OBVERSE
1. The center of the coin features the image of the Cup Winners’ Cup, with the legend in Georgian and English („Sakartvelo“, „Georgia“) above it. Around the cup, at the edge of the coin, there is a decorative semi-circular ornament, with sharp ends. The lower right side features the year of winning – 1981 and legend „year“ (in Georgian). The lower left side features the legend „LARI“ (in Georgian), denomination numeral „2“ and English legend „LARI“. The lower edge of the coin indicates the year of the issue of the coin – „2006”. The denomination numeral „2“ and the first numeral in the victory date of „1981“ are larger in size and denote the score of the game – 2:1.
REVERSE
2. There are two football players in motion on the right and left sides. On the lower side, between the figures, there is an image of a ball, and below it – the number denoting the jubilee date – 25 and the legend in Georgian and English -„Tseli“ (in Georgian) and „years“. Almost all area of the coin is covered by the decorative image of the cup. On the surface of the ball one can see the legend in Georgian and English – „DINAMO TBILISI EVROPIS T´ASEBIS MP´LOBELT´A T´ASIS MPLOBELI“ (in Georgian) and „DINAMO TBILISI UEFA CUP WINNERS’ CUP WINNER“. A decorative semi-circular ornament divides the surface of the coin in two parts and creates background for the decor and images of football players. The edge of the coin features the legend in Georgian and English – „Sakartvelos Erovnuli Banki“ (in Georgian) „National Bank of Georgia“ and seven-pointed star.
Issued by the National Bunk of Georgia.
Was struck at the Warsaw Mint, Poland.
