I am a philatelist for more than 35 years and a seasoned eBay user. Joined Delcampe a few years ago, and to be honest, I am furious at the moment at the PATHETIC level of response from a supposedly dedicated English language support Dimitri. In my company, he would have been fired a long time ago for his innefficiency to reply, whatever the reason, after 3 days, despite sending several messages!
Basically, the Delcampe system on lower bids is FLAWED. If I get an offer for a lower bid of one of my items, and then click the right radio button to send a counter offer, my item ends up being bid at the price the bidder offered! It happened to me twice now and this is rather annoying.
Delcampe refuses to accept the fact that there is an error in the system! And to make it worse, they do not bother to respond to queries from users! The auction now ended and it did leave a bit of unwanted exchanges between the seller and the 'buyer'.
Some years ago, I did bring to the notice of Delcampe that their webpages did not fit properly into large screens (17" and above). After so many emails and screenshots requested by Delcampe, the display is now OK.
Why wouldn't they listen now is anybody's wonder! Maybe they are too big headed to listen to small time sellers?

Sebastien Delcampe or anyone at Delcampe,
Please note that you are being a bit stupid now in your customer service. After several emails sent to your customer support address, you did not have the courtesy to respond. Yesterday I have requested you to close down my account for reasons given to you and that request too had no reply from you!
Do you think you can just run a website with no ethics and consideration towards your users?
Please note that you should either reply to my original emails and address the problems mentioned, else if you do not care about people's problems, then please close down my account immediately, as I have no time to waste anymore with this pathetic customer service of yours.
Is this the best you guys can do at Delcampe?

As to your original post: I've never had a problem with counter offers. Are you sure you've clicked the right button/tick box as well as adjusting your price?

As far as customer service is concerned: In my experience Dimitri (the current English speaking rep) has been brilliant. Having said that, I sent him a message this Tuesday or Wednesday and I haven't had a response. I can only assume that he's absent (regular holiday or illness) and his inbox has not been checked.

If you really want to close your account, simply make a request to that effect and I am sure that eventually the account will get closed. In the meanwhile, don't use the website if you feel that strongly about it. I am sure that I have no end of "dormant" accounts on a number of sites, including Ebay. I set up an account there years ago; can't remember my password and the email I used is no longer existent, so I can't get a reminder and they refuse to send it to a different email address - tbh I can't get stressed out about it. I'm just taking up a bit of their server space.

Hello Mainlypostcards,
Thanks for your reply on this matter.
Yes, I am sure I did press the right radio button whilst changing the counter price. I had exactly the same problem some months ago and it was the same result. I did think I did a mistake, although I was pretty sure I was right. This time I was right and the same result...
Look, I do not have anything against Delcampe, I am in favour of a good alternative to eBay. So far, with 250 x 100% feedbacks from buyers, I can say I had no problems at all, as I am an honest trader.
However, for a business operation, if Dimitri is away or not, it is not my problem. Delcampe should make sure that role - not Dimitri - is covered. That is clearly not the case as it is nearly a week now and many emails sent.
I have followed the correct procedure to close down my account purely out of frustration and stated the reasons. Even now after a day, not a word back from them. So, is the person incharge of dealing with requests to close accounts also on holiday? :-)
Do you really think this is good customer service? I do not have time to waste to write emails. For me, a bit of attention to address a problem is not too much to ask...
What I find annoying is that Sebastien Delcampe comes to Stampex with his big smile, and this is all he has to offer to users he signs on! That is not acceptable at all.

Sebastian Delcampe & Co.,
Can you please have the courtesy to either reply to my emails written to your helpdesk about the problem raised, else can you please close down my Delcampe account as requested via the appropriate route?
It is now over a week and despite emails, reminders, forum message complaint, there's yet no sign of any of you responding to anything.
I hope Delcampe users who read this will take note on the quality of your customer support!
Kind regards,
JP Cota

You are demanding that Delcampe close your account, yet you still have over 1300 items listed. Why?

Simply close all your listings and let the account lapse and become dormant like mainly says - it's their server space after all

OK, so you're peeved that Delcampe haven't responded to your requests, but it isn't the end of the world and we know they're not the most forthcoming of organizations, but I and many others have been using Delcampe for several years quite happily and with the minimum of inconvenience and frustration, and after all is said and done they're still better and more personal than eBay

To be honest, I do not have time to close down all my 1300+ items. Why would I waste my time doing that when Delcampe does not have a minute or two to respond to emails? By closing down my account, I would save that time. I do not wish my account to be dormant, that's not the way I operate. Either it is fully operational - with customer service included, if that is not too much to ask - else fully closed down.
On the other hand, if they respond and possibly acknowledge themselves that there is a software error somewhere in the lower bid module - and do something about it - then perhaps things would be different. But silence from their end does not help.
Three years ago I did help idenfying another interface error on their software that affected users using large size monitors. I just don't understand why they now don't even reply, when I Iam personally affected now with 'sales' generated due to yet another of their suspected software error.
Considering all their non-response to any emails, I would disagree that this not customer service at all, leave alone being a personal one! I agree that eBay is a 'copy-paste' reply system, but at least they are prompt and genuinely address genuine issues. After all, they are a professional system. Why can't these guys evolve and compete with them, is anyone's guess. I am not on the 'enemy' side, but what's the point if one's emails via the correct procedures are not answered?

You don't need more than a couple of minutes to close all your items. Go to "My Delcampe", open up "My selling:Ongoing", click on "Show all items", scroll to the end, check the box marked "All" and finally click on the box "Close".
You complain about Delcampe not replying. It doesn't help when you decide to post your complaint in the section of the Forum which is for new members to introduce themselves.

I agree with the last post. Close all your items - and you will find your request to close your account will eventually take effect.

Also it would help if you posted your woes in the correct section of the Forum.

I disagree with your comments that state Ebay is much more professional organisation. All their replies are 'cut and paste' and often nothing to do with your inquiry or complaint. But it is, however, very much easier to close an account over there. Overall their customer service is appalling and I say that after about five years selling there with a total feedback of 45,000+. One of the most obtuse, exasperating, arrogant and impersonal organisations I have ever dealt with.

Tony, thanks for the instructions, shall keep that in mind when I decide to close down my account Still awaiting for their replies.
Apologies for having written my post on this introductory forum. I did see a similar message with the same subject title like mine's and wrote the same thing too Didn't see you commenting on that one though...
I was hoping Sebastien Delcampe the webmaster and moderator would at least spot this message, when all his staff have failed to respond all my messages sent to them on appropriate channel/emails addresses. He responded to that message.

Wycombe, if you feel that eBay is not professional, would you consider Delcampe's non-response to emails sent via the correct boxes, reminders to Delcampe a more professional than eBay to you?
Sorry to say but I disagree with your views about eBay. If you had a feedback so high, you should have got a dedicated phone line 'by invitation only' - like the one I do have - and that can bypass any email possible email related delays/problems. I can speak to them by phone face to face daytime, and to be honest, they are very friendly and cooperative. I can vouch on that from the experience of so many years. The only thing that puts me off on them is their pure greed and biased feedback system, which I have both 100% anyway (in four figures).
I still trade on eBay on two user accounts, one to buy and one to sell. I still hope to do the same in Delcampe with one single account, as I have made many friends and aquantances so far, so I hope their mediocre customer service replies to my emails and gets my problem addressed. Fingers crossed.
NB: I have just been invoiced (automatically I pressume) for this high value item I have 'sold' due to their software fault.

I did indeed have a 'dedicated' customer rep who was supposed to deal with my account - but she was as much help as a fart in a trance. She new nothing about my business and probably couldn't care less. As you I had/have several accounts (all high feedback) - all are now dormant except one which I do a little buying on and flogged a second hand washing machine on recently. Comparing the two sites I much prefer Delcampe though I do much less business here compared to my Ebay hey-day. The hassles and hoops to jump through all the time just do not exist here.

All sites have their foibles/bad points and Delcampe is no exception but here they are very much less than those I found on Ebay.

Hello Wycombe, I would agree with you that most web auction websites have their own specific flaws. That is why my good Samaritan nature kicked in and I have written to Delcampe initially on that display issue. I would have not bothered now perhaps, but because I had a high value item 'sold' because of a software fault of them, I have now been invoiced for the 'sale' and now have to deal with another situation to explain to them again everything. That's frustrating for me as their silence means I am losing money by paying selling fees for something not sold!
And yes, Delcampe has very great users, friendly and understanding - unlike eBay where sometimes, we get the odd ones out that really hold you (seller) at ransom with the threat of negative feedback, untill you bow to their demands. That is why although sales are low on Delcampe, I still have more fun here than on eBay...

Dimitri has finally responded and explained reasons for delay in replying and we are in dialogue.
Hence it does look like Delcampe customer service does exist after all!
