More categories and sub categories. The selection of categories is sorely lacking. I understand it has been increased over the years, there is room for improvement.

Hello,
If you have ideas for new categories you can always send us an e-mail. Your suggestions will then be studied to see if they can be implemented or not.
Best regards,
Dimitri from the Delcampe Team

I don't know what you are trying to list/looking for, but if they are US topographical cards, if there isn't a category for the specific town/city, then they go in State>other.
If it's subject cards, some categories can be found in "strange places" and do indeed look unfamiliar for those of us used to working on English speaking sites. For example: greetings here are "Holidays & celebrations" and glamour cards go under "Fancy cards>women".
If you're stuck on anything in specific, let me know and I'll try to point you in the right direction.

Using "other" categories is not optimum. I will suggest what i need when appropriate. Certainly more options in motor racing to reflect some American types of competition would be good.

Remember that category updates only happen every 3 to 4 months, therefore if there is anything you're likely to need at some future point, it's better to get your request in now.

Also there is a 'critical mass' below which it is not feasible to introduce new categories - somewhere in the order of 100+ to 200+ before it will be considered
I know there are many categories with many less items but these are being looked at and reviewed constantly; many of these 'legacy' categories date from the early days of the site before it was being populated to the extent it is now and were based pretty much on guesswork

If there are less than the stated figure of any subject then D* won't consider setting up a separate category, so if you want a category for, say, NASCAR racing and you have only ten or so cards, then you'll be out of luck

How does Delcampe determine how many cards i have waiting to be listed? How does delcampe determine how many cards other s may have? This is starting to sound insane.

And if I have have 300 cards of a type, that does not mean that i will list them all immediatey. It is starting to sound like new categorizes work by a system that avoids establishing anything new. No wonder there are such a poor selection of slots to use.

You can't have a new category created on the assumption you or anyone else MAY want to use it, and no-one can anticipate what categories may be required in future
If you don't have a specific category now place your items in 'Other' and if sufficient cards of one particular subject are eventually listed they may qualify for a new category of their own

I see categories for topics that have great interest. You say there must be 300 cards already listed for a slot to be created. This kind of thinking is the problem at delcampe. The categories are inadequate. Requiring 300 items to be listed before a new category is created is ridiculous. Someone there should be able to use some JUDGEMENT as to the popularity of a subject. Someone there should have some understanding of the US market, a huge market. Enough for me on this.

Even I don't have an understanding of the US market and I'm probably better placed than Delcampe to do so
You say it is huge, but if so, why do you have only 19 items listed? You contradict your own argument

Are you feeling OK? I have 19 items because I spend my limited time and energy posting non postcard items elsewhere. The market is huge here, a huge population. Many many collectors. Look at SC Views for one. I don't contradict, you try to bend reality to your view. Once again enough. You are sure delcampe is just right on the money with this. I am sure I will continue posting and continue knowing the management is missing the point on many issues.

You mentioned just the right person there. Scview, like me and many others, has had to adapt over the years to be able to continue to sell successfully online. Scview has done a lot of good for this site, first by dumping all his stuff here (and that is meant in the friendliest of manners), bringing his old customers over, getting new sellers to start using Delcampe and requesting/suggesting improvements to the site as and when they are needed. He started off here at a time when there were hardly any American members.
He did not come here with an attitude of: "The site has to adapt to me", but rather "I need a different venue and I may have to make changes"
The market is huge in Europe with an equally huge population - this happens to be a European website, which willingly accommodates worldwide members, but it's not going to change to just please American or Asian, or Australian (or whatever other country's) customers.
If categories are needed (and justified as per what has been said here previously) they will get added and changes will be made, but you'd have to be serious about selling here and make suggestions/requests when certain items reach the "critical mass" which was mentioned earlier in this thread.

You are a bad joke. delcampe does not have to adapt to me. If i thought that I would not list. I have not made changes to my ways to list here. I was suggesting a major flaw i see. Now I am back to the real world. Posting stuff that will sell where it will sell. When i have time, more stuff on delcampe. stay as sweet as you are...........

Actually, you are not suggesting anything. A thread titled "More" without any specific detailed information doesn't mean anything.
You are absolutely in your right to use different venues for different types of items - I do it myself, but if you think there is a flaw here, be specific. What is this flaw you've seen? Unfortunately clairvoyance is not yet a forte of Delcampe staff and/or moderators and/or members.
