Hello,
This can happen if you have setup PayPal to manage you shipping charges. In such case, they take over what our site announces them as shipping charges.

Sebastien
hi again.
I haven't changed anything with my setup to paypal, and I got payments with the correct s/h
and payments with the wrong s/h amount the same day, so I don't understand anything.
This morning some of my buyers emailed me and told me that when they are trying to pay me, the s/h changed from US$ 3.00 to US$6.00.
They also ask me what to do, and some have already paid me with the wrong s/h amount of US$ 6.00.
Can anyone here tell me the email address to PAYPAL, so I can tell them about the problem.

Dear Benny,
As we recently have improved the PayPal checkout on our side, I have verified your case.
I can actually see that for one of your buyers (among others), shipping charges are of 3$ on Delcampe, and changed to 6$ on PayPal. So I have verified the process ad I can only confirm that we give the right amount to PayPal. So, obviously, the problem is in your PayPal config.
Maybe this problem existed before, but only appears now because we let PayPal doe a greater part of the checkout process.

Hi, Sebastien
the same problem started happening to my Paypal charges, too.
I send an invoice through the Delcampe invoicing system; 2 or 3 buyers had this problem today. I can see on the Paypal site that there is a new look to it (some new graphics, different configuration of text). My S&H charges are $2.50 for international buyers; now there is a line for "shipping" and another for "handling" -- both have $2.50 automatically filled in.
I will try to re-do my 'auto fill' S&H charges on the PP site and let you know what happens. (Hopefully, I can change the "Handling" to 0 without affecting "Shipping".)

I have been looking into this and have only found a way to change the "Shipping" charges which are added by default. I cannot see a way to change this "Handling" line (which doubles the charges to my buyers.)
I understand that it may be on the Paypal site, not Delcampe, but will also add that I didn't change anything in any of my settings as Pipeline says.

"Item amount: $10.00 USD
Sales Tax: $0.00 USD
Shipping: $2.00 USD
Handling: $0.00 USD"
The above is what I saw in a Paypal notice until Friday, 10 February.
Since Saturday, 11 February:
"Order Description: Shopping Cart
Item Total: $5.00 USD
Sales Tax: $0.00 USD
Shipping: $2.50 USD
Handling: $2.50 USD
Seller discount or charges: $0.00 USD"
Is it possible that Delcampe is now sending our S&H/P&P fees to the "Handling" rubric now instead of the "Shipping" one?
If I delete the default settings on Paypal via 'Shipping Calculator' will both fields then be blank? With the information Delcampe sends will one field only (it really doesn't matter whether it's 'Shipping' or 'Handling' although 'Shipping' is better)?
Thanks again for looking into this!
Alan

I have just gone through the payments I've received over the weekend.
My payments have come through for the right amount, but I too noticed the 2 boxes on the PP website. Here in the UK it is a box for "postage" and another one for "packaging". I did notice that my p&p charge appeared in the "packaging box" and the "postage" box was empty.
Why this separation between postage and packaging (or shipping and handling), when it is made as a single charge on the Delcampe invoice?

I presume that this problem occurs when using the Delcampe e-wallet.
I issue individual invoices on completion of auctions giving email address for payment by Paypal or Skrill and I don't seem to have this problem.

A couple of buyers noticed the double billing and asked for a Paypal Request; when I go that route, there is only a single charge for S&H/P&P.
I'm pretty certain it's something that has resulted from the recent Delcampe up-date. Notice the new line on the Paypal notice for 'Seller Discount or Charges' which matches a line Delcampe uses.

Yes, it is an e-wallet problem.
Having said that, UK sellers shouldn't have a problem anyhow, because Paypal doesn't offer us the choice to fix our p&p charges on their site. So PP shouldn't add anything to the invoice for us, if the actual p&p charge in the Delcampe invoice ends up in the wrong box.

Hi Sebastian.
I've just heard from Paypal, and her you see their answer.
Hello Benny,
Thank you for your reply. Most auction sites are passing their own shipping and tax information to PayPal. Please contact the provider of the auction site to make sure they are not passing a 'handling' fee to PayPal with the order. This would be applied to your account along with your shipping causing the shipping amount to be greater.

I have adjusted (deleted) my default settings on Paypal and now have only one field getting filled in automatically (the Handling field) by Delcampe's e-wallet.
seems to be "fixed" now!
If you're still getting double charges automatically filled in I'd recommend going to the Paypal site and adjust your 'Shipping Calculator' settings in the 'Merchant Services' tab. (may not help if you use PP for more than Delcampe. . .)

I think that's exactly where the problem is. The Delcampe p&p or s&h charge is going into the packaging/handling box on Paypal, rather than the postage/shipping box. So, if you have any defaults set on Paypal, you end up with a double charge.
Hopefully Sebastien is following this thread and will be able to sort it out.

I sent a buyer an invoice for Euro 8.80 and he was asked to pay Euro 11.10 through the PP procedure.
How this additional 2.30 Euro eventuated is a mystery because there is no such sum in my Shipping/Handling charges.
Guess I'll have to step back 8-10 years in time and send out my own invoices.
By the way, I went to my PP site (AU) and there is no place there to make the changes someone suggested.

Hello all,
My apologies for the delay.
Apparently only members using the built-in PayPal calculation of shipping costs (useless for our site, but maybe useful for others) are concerned.
We have applied a patch today to override this behavior of PayPal.
Do you confirm it is ok now ?
Thank you, Sebastien

Hi.
Thank you Sebastian for your action in this case.
All my Paypal payments this week have been with the correct postage, so I think that the problem now is solved, so now I've started listing new items again.
