hi seb,
you eluded to the site being started in america, but when will this be brought into fruition? i am anxious to get my american cousins into the auctions and put ebay and yahoo out of business. you also need to work more on adding countries to the exisiting list. there are several missing. our world geography has changed so much in the last 50 years. has your staff kept up with their lessons in school? the great britain colonies really lack good listings. all these things will help with your auctions if you do come to america. trust me, i know my american collector brothers. i hope to see the site here very soon. take care.
a bientot,

Hello Cajun,

I think the creation of a US-based brother requires first of all a lot of research and negotiations. I'm sure Seb is on that matter.

As for the list of countries and the GB colonies, you know that Seb is all too happy to receive suggestions of members. If these categories do not meet your requirements you might find the time to contact Seb and ask to add some needed categories?

Sincerely

hi moondude,
although i appreciate your comments, does seb have a mouth of his own? i am sure he can answer his questions too. this is no insult to you my friend. i just wanted to hear some news straight from the horse's mouth. and i am sure i will in time as will everyone. as to the country listings, i have just noticed many gaps that needed filling and improvements that are needed. i did notice the fantastic improvement on the currency convertor, kudos to seb for that one. and i don't think anyone suggested that. so let me be the first to congratulate him on it.
regards,
cajunsr.

Hello,

I fully understand your point of view ! I understand the reasons and the goals of your questions, and no doubt they are always in favour of the site.

The thing is that these forums have as main goal to help each other and discuss certain matters with each other. Here for discussions on improvement for the site. That's why I asked if you could give some concrete improvements for the categories.

If you want to get in touch with Seb directly, so you have a clear and fast responpse, you can always contact him by site or by his personal email address.

Sincerely

hi moondude,
i am sure seb is reading these columns and will express his views when he is sure about what he wants to say. i have often found he says what he wants only when he has a chartered course of direction for his website. he does not make rash decisions on anything and that is what makes the site so good. it is that great planning and detail with a better and smarter idea than yahoo or ebay that keeps him above the rest. i just try to point out the discrepancies or flaws in the designs of the site to help make it better. i was a nuclear medicine technologist years ago and became the head technologist of my department because i came up with good ideas. i worked on the first generation CAT scanners and that really required learning how to use your noodle to improve the techniques in providing quality control. it is much the same thing on seb's site. i use the 40+ years of my stamp knowlege and what i have learned with computers to do the same. and of course, what i learned in college. i'm no egghead by any means, but my dad and granddad were pharmacists and my brother is a law professor. and i do try to be smarter than the average bear. and 'yogi bear' was my hero on tv, always stealing them picnic baskets. and i have passed that on to my son in the army to survive in iraq, who i hope to have home very soon safe and sound. take care moondude. always a pleasure to banty words with you.
a bientot,
cajunsr.

Hi,
Delcampe serves all countries,so defacto it is in North America. I have been a member for 2 1/2 years and sold items to members all over the world except Antarctica! The breakdown for large countries on this side of the pond could be a lot better. For example there was about 16000 items for Canada, but no breakdown so it is almost unusable. If they ask for volunteers perhaps some of us could sort out the mess to get the Americas more user friendly. I have over 2000 Canada lots to enter but why bother npw.
Considering that Delcampe does not appear to do any advertising in the Americas, I still get a lot of orders from the US, Canada and Argentina.
When possible we should promote the site. For example The Canadian Stamp News asked readers for good sites to write a column. You know which one I sent in. Also members of local and national clubs can place classified ads in the newsletters for a few dollars. If 100 existing Delcampers in the US and Canada did this we would have more members "over here" than in Europe! With the difference in time zones the site should be able to handle more of us without any problem.

hi PB,
in a way, you are right, delcampe is available to everyone, but seb had just mentioned he would put the site in america in a previous newsletter and i was just wondering when it would be done. this was his idea, not mine. and it was supposed to be done in 2005. well, the year is half over, so where is it? i guess his recent marriage might have delayed those plans, who knows. or other things too. but i am a patient person and can wait for the good to come. after all, rome wasn't built in a day. and neither was delcampe.com.
a bientot,

As a collector of canadian stamps, I am in the situation discribed by Polarbear. I am some duplicate stamps to put on auction for I refrain to do it since chapter Canada is simply unusable.

The fisrt and most urgent step is to create breakdowns to render searches practicable.

A nice day to everybody

Hello,

I can only agree on your requests of fine-tuning these categories, but possibly you can be of great help to Sebastien and Delcampe.com.

Seen I don't have any detailed knowledge on US, Canadian, North- or South American stamps it would come as no surprise to me should Sebastien also have only basic knowledge about these countries.

This is were your experience, knowledge and speciality can help Sebastien to further divide these categories and customize them for our American-based friends-collectors. (This without simply having to copy categories of competitor sites)

If you feel that some categories are underdevelopped, maybe launch your preferences here or/and directly to Sebastien using 'Contact Delcampe'.

I am sure that Seb will be willing to help you and would sure appreciate any help on this matter.

Greetings

Steven

hi y'all,
well, guess the cajun done opened another can of worms, and you know what us cajuns do when we have worms, we go fishing. :applause: and my canook cousins do the same. and i know y'all have some big fish up there. i lived in michigan for 4 1/2 years when i was a boy and know them muskies and pikes, and lake trout. good eating and fighting fish. but so are my fresh water catfish and large mouth bass. maybe seb is monitoring this hot tabasco sauce debate and will soon put in his 2 cents worth. everyone here has great advice. but it is still up to seb to make it happen and i'm sure he will. take care everyone and let's go fishing. and PEACE.
a bientot,
