DID YOU KNOW IT?/ Transactions Follow-up

When a sale ends, you can easily do the follow-up of the "after-sale".

To do this, go to "My Delcampe" in "Sell: Closed sales (with buyer)" or "Buy: Won bids"
For each transaction, you will find the name of the buyer or the seller as well as all the information as regards the sale. You can follow the status of the transaction and the status of the sending of the item thanks to the box "Follow-up":

When the icons are grayed, it means that the status is not active. The stage of this transaction has not been reached yet. Conversely, when they are colored, it is active. To activate them, the seller or the buyer simply has to click on these according to the status of the transaction.
As regards the payment icons, their activation is automated when the payment is made via Paypal and Skrill used in the frame of the Delcampe e-wallet. Discover in the following lines a precise description of every icon.

            Icon "Payment requested"
Indicates that the payment has been requested to the buyer. By leaving the mouse on the icon, it is possible to see when exactly payment was requested.

            Icon "Payment sent"
It informs you about the sending of the payment by the buyer. It is also possible to see when the payment was made by leaving the cursor on the icon.

            Icon "Payment received"
It specifies whether the seller has received the payment, and if yes, when.

            Icon "Item sent"
This fourth icon indicates if the item has been sent to the buyer. It indicates as well when this was done.

            Icon "Item received"
It allows to know if the item was received by the buyer. Again, by leaving the cursor of the mouse on the icon, you can see when the item was received.

We greatly advise you to use these icons in order to facilitate the communication with your buyers or sellers. This way, at any time, each one knows at what stage the transaction is!

                                     CULTURE / Bear tamers

Whether you are a collector of postcards or not, you have certainly noticed that a lot of old postcards depict bears and their tamer.

This is in fact a very old trade: the bear tamer.

Dating back to the Middle Ages, the trade has particularly developed itself in Europe in the 19th century from the mountainous areas like Abruzzo, Ariège or certain regions of the Balkans. This job then allowed to meet the needs of the poorest families.

The bear tamers fall into the category of small trades. They travel cities and villages with one or more bears, muzzled and chained to the "pleasure" of the public at the time.

The cubs are first captured, castrated, bred and trained, then taken onto the markets where they serve as attractions. At the time, they were even attributed with all sorts of healing powers for who dares to approach and caress them...

Bear taming is a popular trade at the time. It is a way to entertain oneself and the coming of a bear tamer is always an event. This explains the high number of postcards depicting this job. Some collectors even specialize only in this highly sought theme. It is the notion of lost "small trade" which awakens the nostalgia among collectors of these unusual postcards...

Discover or rediscover our Postcards section where you will have the opportunity to find and learn more about bear taming!

                        1. What are the sales conditions of this seller?

In order to know the sales conditions, go to the page of the desired item. At the bottom of the page, click on the tab "Sales conditions".

                                     CULTURE /

For many of us, the lovely season is finally coming back! Which means sun, terrasse and apéritif. Many will bring out the bottle of rosé, some a white wine and others delicious juice fruits. But did you know that for some wine enthusiasts, pleasure is not within the bottle but on the bottle...

Indeed, many fans collect wine labels. The label is a bit like the identity card of the wine. You can find useful information such as the origin of the wine or the producer.

The classification of these collections of labels is done by designation and domain as well as by region. It can also be done by thematic. The labels are then classified according to whether they depict works of art, animals, buildings, vehicles, traditional costumes,…

Historical digression… Did you know that labeled bottles only appeared during the 18th century? The first labels were simple papers which sometimes were written by hand and looking like little business cards. With the invention of lithography, it became possible to print out more complex labels with graphs and colours.

How can the desire to collect wine labels appear? In vino veritas…

Since our beginnings, Delcampe.net has continued to evolve and grow... That is why we are pleased to announce that on this April 3, Delcampe has indeed opened its doors to Australia! Discover now the new site: www.delcampe.com.au.

Remember... 4 years ago, we had launched the Canadian site www.delcampe.ca

On the occasion of the launch of the Australian site, we invite you to participate in our special contest "Australia". You will have the opportunity to win an exceptional prize!

Come and discover also our new auction house: the "London Ancient Coins Ltd".

We also inform you that we will be present at the Briefmarken Messe Fair in Essen next May.

See you very soon in our next newsletter... or on www.delcampe.net

Your Delcampe Team

NEW WEBSITE /

It is with great enthusiasm that we announce the opening of Delcampe Australia!

Like the other national Delcampe websites, this one will give its collectors the opportunity to meet at the heart of a friendly and pleasant community. The sale prices are in Australian Dollars and the website is available in English.

The sales started on the Australian site will also be present on the international site Delcampe.net. The Australian site includes the same features and benefits as the other countries:

    No insertion fee,
    Reasonable commission rates on sales,
    A community of serious collectors,
    etc.

The diversity of the Delcampe website has rendered it an international marketplace in trading. Everyone can acquire the item of their dreams from the hands of a Delcampe member at the other end of the world. In order for that launch to be a success, we need our community: collectors and passionate ones, buyers and sellers. You have a lot of friends and acquaintances in the world of collection in Australia? Invite them on http://www.delcampe.com.au.

The categories of the site are currently not much filled; we hope that very soon new items will enrich them thanks to your actions and your participation!

Here is the list of sellers already present on our new Australian website: Decotiques, Grantlambert, Ninoppp, Stevo45, Intritas44, Northmarstonlad, Queenslander, Omamma, Dhille, Maxtyson, Wilber11, Beedee, Johndusud, Aust_stamps, Boris 007, Eddie_in_oz, Stampman_dave, Australian_stamps
