I propose to include a tool that would allow to exclude one or several sellers from the result of browsing or searching. In some categories I am watching, there is a seller who often lists huge amounts of uninteresting overpriced stuff and it would be a help to get these items off to find more effectively items I am interested in. The present state discourages sometimes from browsing and searching and I feel that many other buyers would appreciate the proposed option.

Hello,
Thank you for your suggestion. We have read and saved it for future enhancements of the site.
We can not say if we will keep it like it is, and the priority we will give, but it is confirmed it is now in our "ideas box"
Best regards, Seb Delcampe

I vote for this feature as well. Search is everything nowdays, and I think Google would agree on this with me as well. I just so tired looking into boring, uninteresting, overpriced stuff from some sellers which completely clogs search results. Please do something about it.

Hello Sebastien
To be able to exclude these sellers from searches is only one small part of the solution to the problem. It would have no effect on these sellers unless they know that they are excluded by buyers.
i believe that the best solution to the problem is for Delcampe to prevent these sellers from listing vast numbers of the same item (whether used or unused). You can do nothing about the pricing but you can do something about the quantity. My fear is that buyers just won't be bothered to wade through page after page of identical, often overpriced, items and that other sellers will lose out on possible sales as a consequence. If you take action about the few rogue sellers I believe that overall sales would improve. More sales for sellers and more money for Delcampe!!
Best regards
Tony

First thanks to anybody for supporting my proposal. In the meantime (more than one year after) not only I still find my proposal useful but would like even more to have the possibility to exclude several (e.g. 10) sellers, as the number of big dealers increases who use Delcampe to create a mirror of their webshop.
Tony: your proposal is much more complex and its implementation would not be easy. We must be aware of two things. First these big dealers do not violate any Delcampe rules (and I must admit that not all offer overpriced bad stuff, there are also those who offer good items, but anyway, why should I waste time in viewing their items again and again?). Second, relisting of their large stock works and their always sell items which means that they find their buyers and that Delcampe gets profit from these sales.
So I find it fair not to prevent both sellers from listing their items and buyers from finding them. But it is also fair to experienced regular buyers who remain loyal to Delcampe to give them a good advanced search that effectively finds what they are looking for and excludes a maximum of what is wasting their time. I expect that this would pay back to Delcampe in increased sales.
Regards Peter

If you know of sellers who list large quantities of exactly the same item there are Moderators - who frequent this forum - who have the power to remove identical items.
Report the seller with two or three examples of the overlisting - directly to a Moderator if you can and I'm sure some action can be taken.

As I have mentioned in earlier posts, Delcampe do not regard used stamps as identical so there is no point in contacting Delcampe or moderators. This allows some sellers to list very many copies of the same issue. One example recently was a seller who listed 62 used examples of an Irish stamp at the same time. When I contacted Delcampe I was told that used stamps are not identical!!

If the same scan had been used for all of them then they are identical. If the seller had used a different scan for each then I would contact Delcampe again. I suspect the rancour against sellers who list items the same to such a degree as the one you mention is getting home to the powers that be at Delcampe - keep complaining - if you and others do the same then action will be taken.

The same scans were not used but the stamps were all the same issue. I did contact Delcampe again but did not get a response. I just keep raising the issue when I get the chance.

Hi all,i raised the point on the Life Chat with Seb.The answer was that they are different stamps because the cancellation is different.
So it will stay the same

Peter I absolutely agree with your proposal. Simply excluding certain sellers from search results will do the trick. In fact as I just learned few days ago competitor site, namely ebay, have such functionality already. And I was more than happy to use it, since same Delcampe sellers dumped their overpriced inventories on ebay during some kind of "free listing" days.

Thank you for supporting this idea. What would be important for such tool: to be available in category listings which I assume is the most common way how people view Delcampe.

The answer to the problem expounded in this thread is two-fold indeed:
1. Give each buyer the ability to exclude from their searches the sellers who annoy them (for whatever reasons);
2. Notify the sellers that they are being excluded.
The more negative votes a seller thus gets, the more he'll get the point that his offering or dumping or behavior is not welcome. Human nature will do the rest, in terms of auto-discipline.
For the same reason, I would notify the sellers each time they are blacklisted.
I would do all of the above anonymously, to avoid retaliatory behavior via the transaction evaluation system. To avoid abuse, I would entitle each buyer to 'vote' once only.
Political democracy works the same way.
Best wishes to one and all,
Brice

If we cannot have a rule limiting the number of used copies of the same stamp which can be listed by a seller I agree with Briceropion that sellers must be told that they have been excluded from a buyer's search for it to have any effect and that notification must be anonymous.
Regarding blacklisting, I thought the notification was already in place. If I go to Parameters in My Delcampe and click on My Blacklist I see a list of those who I have blacklisted and why. I also see a section headed "Those who do not accept me". I have no entries under this heading but I assume that this is where I would be notified if anyone blacklisted me.

You are right. It does indeed show on the right hand side if someone has blacklisted you.
However, I don't think blacklisting a seller has any effect at all at the moment. There is one member on my blacklist who is a regular non payer, but is also a seller. If I go to her items, I can still buy from her.

I think the main thrust of Briceropion and myself was with regard to those sellers who were excluded from searches mainly as a result of dumping large quantities of very similar items (often overpriced) which makes browsing or searching such an unsatisfactory experience.
