This used to happen on the old Stampwants.com site and I always found it a useful feature

This may be annoying for our sellers. When you got few bids a day, this is not a problem, but when you sell lot of items, this is more difficult to manage.

Like with other email notifications, you could allow sellers to opt out of receiving these notifications. For example, I have opted out of receiving "item listed" messages.

It could be an optional feature of course, so you could switch it on or off like the 'new message' notification
