Has anyone tried to use the various CSV file download options on Delcampe?

I am trying to do a reconciliation of my current 'Ongoing' inventory items. I have downloaded the CSV file for 'all listings'. However, it doesn't seem to include an amount field. There are also other fields which I can't correlate.

Anyhow, just seeing if anyone else has any experience on the subject or if anyone could point me to any relevant Delcampe documentation.

Thanks,

Alan Catherall

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that there has been no response to my question.

I don't think the downloads are in correct CSV format.
They are therefore probably unusable.

This is a shame because there is considerable information loaded into the Delcampe site which should be available for use by Sellers to assess their performance and adjust sales strategies.

Looks like this is something I will need to take up with Delcampe direct.

Does anyone else have any views?

Would someone from Delcampe Technical team like to comment about whether CSV downloads work or not?

Yep the documentation for Lister is sorely lacking. It's mostly trial and error. Some of the import and export functions of Lister don't appear to be working properly either, the last time I tried.

I know it probably won't help you at this point, but I added a single item in Lister and then exported it as a .csv thereby creating my own simple three row 'template' file for use in Excel. Using this I have not had any problems since.

The headers in the file are (from column A to AH):
country currency website category title option_addSubtitle optiondata_addSubtitle personalref description personalnote images saletype fixedprice quantity startprice increment option_reservePrice optiondata_reservePrice duration renewaltimes endingtime endingday option_lastMinuteExtension option_privateSale option_boldTitle option_highlightEffect option_coloredBorder displayoption keeponrenew status createddate sent sentdate modifieddate

Thanks for your response.

My issue is nothing to do with Lister.
Delcampe offer the ability to download information in various CSV formats, some relate to Lister compatibility but not all. I am interested in the non-Lister downloads as I wish to analyze - for example, Ongoing Sales and Sales completed. At the very least I would like to reconcile the inventory in my Shop.

My concern is that I don't believe the CSV download options all work and where they do provide a file I don't think it is delivered in a correct / useable CSV format.

Ah I see you are referring to the four export functions available under Selling in My Control Panel.

I just tried a test using "Export all pages in CSV". Opened fine in Open Office and the headers are:

id_auction title personal_reference description visits_number end_date present_price quantity bids_number best_bidder id_category

Yes, I can open the file too in Excel.
My problem is that I can't process the data because I don't think it is formatted correctly as a CSV format.

I have now installed Open Office and you are perfectly correct that the Delcampe file loads without any problem. I will investigate further. The Calc application appears to be able to decipher different types of CSV file and certainly Delcampe's one. This is a breakthrough

Thank you for your help. :applause:

Other than amount, which I haven't checked is there or not, the CSV format has ALWAYS worked for me when I download it to look at the ongoing sales.

Why?

I use MS Access and import the data into a database table.

This asks what delimiter I'm using, which is a ";" semi-colon.

Then it asks if the top row are field names. Yes!

Then I can expand and contract the columns, like Excel does and I see my data.

I finally sort and search.

This has saved me countless hours trying to check out things on-line as well as refresh what I have on-line by its apparently missing condition in my CSV file. :)

Sorry I was late here, but I've been sick...

Thanks for the input.
I trust you are fully recovered in time for Christmas.

I have an older version of MS Access ... and yes, the file does import. It appears more problematic than Open Office and the amount field may be an issue. Also MS Access takes a bit of learning.

However, I have a couple of possible solutions to work with ... so thanks for your help.

Take care.

My Access view of the data is as follows, left to right:

*****
Auction ID: Yep
Title: The most valuable item
Personal Reference #: which is truly handy to check my stock
Description: I do not use much anyway
# Visits: A cool number, to see if anyone's looking
end date: sort of important

----> present price: bada bing! It is there!

Quantity: always there and mostly "1" only
Bids Number: Yep, good info
Best Bidder:
ID Category: filled

*****

So... what are YOU missing? I download the real CSV, not the delcampe Lister CSV for all ongoing items.

Tracy,

Nothing is missing ... as such. I don't do auctions just fixed price so not all the fields are as relevant to me.

As an aside / initial observation the formatting in OpenOffice just seems to work better.

I am also using the real CSV, not Lister CSV.

No big deal anyway.

I have been very busy at the moment but will have a closer look at my options over the Christmas period as time permits.

Thanks for your help / guidance.

Have a great Christmas time.
