Presentation and activities of Monda02...
Could you present yourself to our members? Who are you?
From the 80's onwards, I evolved in Belgian shows by selling postcards. As the consequence of a hearing impairment, I had to give up my primary profession as a teacher and I reoriented towards Internet sales.
What is your working method? Do you work alone or with a team?
I work together with my wife. She takes care of the fantasy postcards, religious souvenirs and the administration.
Buying and selling is my domain.
Why did you choose the nickname "Monda02" ?
My name is Monin Daniel, that is why.
The passion for collecting...
How did you enter the world of collecting ?
In 1982, during a get-together at my house, a friend proposed me to go to a Postcardcard Show at Charlerloi. I went there, I saw things, I bought some items and I left. At that time, a seller, who was ceasing his activaities as a seller, offered me his stock. I did not hesitate very long.
Monda02 on Delcampe...
When did you start selling on Delcampe and why did you choose Delcampe ?
I settled myself on the Delcampe website in February 2008. The situation at the time was already very clear : it is the website most visited by a majority of collectors, and it has the most advantageous commission fees and insertion fees. Passion is still the most important factor to me, but one has to take into account profitability.
What type of items do you sell on the website?
Mostly postcards but also documents.
Which strategy do you have to sell as efficiently as possible?
The key is to present quality items and rare items. Getting hold of family albums or old collections automatically makes for important sales.
Another important part is to respect your clients: I send all my items the day I receive the payment.
How do you think your Delcampe store wil evolve during the next years ?
I hope I will be able to continue to diversify the items I offer in my store, in order to satisfy my customers as much as possible.
Which is the favourite item in your collection? What's the best experience on Delcampe ?
I have a weak spot for photo postcards. Compared to edited postcards, they are exceptionally rare items.
My best experiences are the touching messages I receive from buyers who are so happy that they were able to find the item they desired.
I have also held onto the messages I received from a Japanese buyer, whose country was, at the time, struck by the tragedy we all know of.
Could you give members who want to start selling on Delcampe three guidelines?
- Offer rare items.
- Respect your customers and take care of your relationship with them.
- Do not hesitate to admit your mistakes. Collecting is a passion that harms noone and which you can get alot out of on a personal level.
