Albert I: A monarch who became a symbol...eighty years ago

Ever higher. It could have been the motto of this king with a passion for mountain climbing. Albert I, known as the Knight King and the Soldier King, was the third king of Belgium. In less than a quarter century, he forged a true foreign affairs policy for Belgium in a colonial environment and in the midst of the First World War.

Duty and rigour were essential to the monarch. His 24-year reign was brutally cut short by his all-consuming passion for mountain climbing when he fell from a cliff in Marche-Les-Dames, in Belgium... That was 80 years ago.
He was a king respected by all who lent his letters patent to a country that had barely existed for a century at the time.

Albert I of Belgium is a true symbol and is portrayed on many collectibles.

Notaphily: value in numbers

The euro really is a currency on the move. In addition to bringing in three new members in four years (Slovakia, Estonia and Latvia), the Eurozone is changing its two smallest banknotes. The five-euro note was the first to change, starting in May, to fight counterfeiters. The "Europe" series will also be adopted for 10-euro bills starting in September 2014.

This key moment for the euro is the perfect time to discover notaphily (a branch of numismatics specialising in banknotes). The serial numbers of modern banknotes is where the real value is found. Series starting with several "0's" should be kept (start of series), as should the famous "radars" (which contain palindromes, the same when read in either direction, e.g. 123454321), and notes that have a series of numbers in straight order (123456789). The collection value of these notes is often much higher than their face value... And it isn't just euro notes! If you have a bill with a serial number in a special pattern, like the one on this American 100-dollar bill or this 5-euro bill, don't hesitate to ask the opinion of other members of our forum. Keep an eye out next time you go to an automatic cash machine!

The inventor of the saxophone left us 120 years ago

This month we're celebrating the 120th anniversary of the death of Adolphe Sax. The name has outlived the man. The saxophone is the legacy of a music lover of genius to the world of music.

Playing a tune on a saxophone is like alchemy. It's a wind instrument that sounds like strings and a instrument made of brass that belongs to the woodwind category. Maybe that's why the instrument was chosen to set the tempo for a Pink... Panther.

A great new feature for easier transactions

Delampe's developers are currently working on new tools to help make your transactions quicker and easier.

Delcampe currently only manages sales completed through Paypal and Skrill, that is, 30% of all transactions. The new features will handle all payment methods enabling Delcampe to manage 100% of transactions.
The tab layout for purchases and sales in progress, or completed, has been entirely redesigned to provide clearer, more efficient transaction handling.

You'll save time on administrative tasks and be able to spend more time on your true passion: your collection!

Stay connected on Delcampe. The new tools will be here very soon!

Sellers: transfer many more images at a time, more quickly!

The more images illustrating a sale, the greater the chance of success.

Thanks to a new feature added to our servers, you can now transfer your images 5 to 10 times faster than before. Many Delcampers have already noticed the difference and have told us how happy they are with this improvement available to all members!

Don't wait! Add more images to your sales! To make your selection, click on the blue "Add your images" button in the selling form and hold down the "Ctrl" key (or Cmd on the Mac) while clicking on the images you want. You can select all of the images you want to use to illustrate the item at the same time. Remember that you can insert up to 99 images per sale. It's free! Why not take full advantage of this feature?

An additional field dedicated to specific sales conditions

Some sellers use the "Message from the seller" field to provide specific sales conditions.

These sales conditions are often missed by the buyer and result in disputes when they are entered under this tab.

To remove all ambiguity, the "Message from the seller" tab has been renamed "Introducing ...". It is used to present the member's interests.
Delcampe's developers have also created an additional field called "Specific sales conditions" which sellers can fill in by going to "My Delcampe > Sales conditions" (under "Shipping and handling").

We invite all our sellers to update their sales conditions and their message to other members.

Warning: Sellers can be held liable in disputes related to sales conditions that aren't found under the "Specific sales conditions" tab.

The Olympic Games

  ... A special
theme
for collectors!
Discover Olympic Games collectibles

After travelling on the ground, through the air, under water and even through space, the Olympic Flame completed a 65,000 km trek from Mount Olympus to Sochi to open the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

The Games revived by Baron Pierre de Coubertin celebrate their 120th anniversary this year... there have been 57 Games and each has produced its share of thrills, anecdotes...and collectibles!

Because the five interlocking rings bring together nations and events and items bearing them have great appeal for collectors, they will continue to make people dream for as long as they symbolise universality and the spirit of sportsmanship.
