DELCAMPE LISTER: THE VERSION 2 ALMOST OVER !

Thanks to the Delcampe Lister, you can work offline and easily prepare your sales from your computer.

The version 3 has been launched more than a year ago. This version is more stable, complete and more practical than the previous version.

In June of this year, the version 2 will stop working and from there, the insertion of items will become slower and slower.

Thus, we encourage our users to start using the new version as soon as possible ! Don't forget that you can obviously transfer all your pepared items from the ancient to the new system (infos).

NEW "API" SYSTEM !

The API is a system allowing sellers who have their own website (outside of Delcampe), to sell simultaneously on their website and on Delcampe. This tool allows you to synchronize the data base. For instance, if an item is sold on one side, it is automatically removed on the other side.

The new API version, based on the REST system, is now available. It is easier to use than the previous system (based on SOAP), the integration is quicker and the management of the items is more flexible ... this will make you save time and money. In addition, the use of this system is totally free !

If you are a professional dealer and if this tool interests you, contact us at support_api@delcampe.com.

“Collecting is a passion that harms noone and which you can get a lot out of on a personal level”

Presentation and activities of Monda02...

Could you present yourself to our members? Who are you?

From the 80's onwards, I evolved in Belgian shows by selling postcards. As the consequence of a hearing impairment, I had to give up my primary profession as a teacher and I reoriented towards Internet sales.

What is your working method? Do you work alone or with a team?

I work together with my wife. She takes care of the fantasy postcards, religious souvenirs and the administration.
Buying and selling is my domain.

Why did you choose the nickname  "Monda02" ?

My name is Monin Daniel, that is why.

The passion for collecting...

How did you enter the world of collecting ?

In 1982, during a get-together at my house, a friend proposed me to go to a Postcardcard Show at Charlerloi. I went there, I saw things, I bought some items and I left. At that time, a seller, who was ceasing his activaities as a seller, offered me his stock. I did not hesitate very long.

Monda02
on Delcampe...

When did you start selling on Delcampe and why did you choose Delcampe ?

I settled myself on the Delcampe website in February 2008. The situation at the time was already very clear : it is the website most visited  by a majority of collectors, and it has the most advantageous commission fees and insertion fees. Passion is still the most important factor to me, but one has to take into account profitability.

What type of items do you sell on the website?

Mostly postcards but also documents.

Which strategy do you have to sell as efficiently as possible?

The key is to present quality items and rare items. Getting hold of family albums or old collections automatically makes for important sales.
Another important part is to respect your clients: I send all my items the day I receive the payment.

How do you think your Delcampe store wil evolve during the next years ?

I hope I will be able to continue to diversify the items I offer in my store, in order to satisfy my customers as much as possible.

Which is the favourite item in your collection? What's the best experience on Delcampe ?

I have a weak spot for photo postcards. Compared to edited postcards, they are exceptionally rare items.
My best experiences are the touching messages I receive from buyers who are so happy that they were able to find the item they desired.
I have also held onto the messages I received from a Japanese buyer, whose country was, at the time, struck by the tragedy we all know of.

Could you give members who want to start selling on Delcampe three guidelines?
  • Offer rare items.
  • Respect your customers and take care of your relationship with them.
  • Do not hesitate to admit your mistakes. Collecting is a passion that harms noone and which you can get alot out of on a personal level.

A message for our members?

MARKETPLACE / The Fourth Edition of “Monnaies Royales Françaises" (1610-1792) will be published on March, 19th. The Editions Gadoury are putting this catalogue on sale on Delcampe Marketplace at the price of 49 €.

In order to provide a handier book, the presentation of the royal coins has been changed and is now based on tables. Each chapter contains tables of three different colours, burgundy for bronze and billon, blue for silver and golden for gold which makes it easier when it comes to searching. The numbers of struck coins have been deleted and replaced by rarity indications of 6 degrees ranging from C (common) to R5. The coins are classified according to reigns, from the smallest value to the largest one, in bronze, billon, silver and gold.  At the beginning of each reign you can find a list giving the letters or workshops.
Another novelty, all the coins are in colour with numerous varieties that have been explained and illustrated along with the most recent discoreries.
Everything is contained in a more pratical format of 508 pages
.

This is an essential work in the tradition of la Maison Gadoury which makes the French numismatic affordable to every one at a reduced price.

Discover it in the shop of the Editions Gadoury by clicking here

DID YOU KNOW IT ? : Categories "Other" or "Unclassified" ?

Since the category "Others & Unclassified" has been divided into "Other" and "Unclassified", a lot of people have asked questions about this change.

Here is the main difference between the categories "Other" and  "Unclassified" :
  • The category "Other" only contains the items for which there's no better defined category.
  • The category "Unclassified" contains the items that the seller did not want to put in a better defined category, even though this category may exist. This is clearly a category where you can find anything and everything.
Examples :
  • A postcard from Gosport, a small city in Hampshire, UK.  There is no category for this city. The seller can thus put it in the below categories (from the best choice to the less good one):
              -  Postcards > Europe > United Kingdom > England > Hampshire > Other,

              -  Postcards > Europe > United Kingdom > England > Hampshire > Unclassified,
              -  Postcards > Europe > United Kingdom > England > Unclassified,
              -  Postcards > Unclassified.
  • A postcard from Los Angeles. There is a category for this city. The seller cannot obviously put it in the category "Other". But he can put this postcard in the below categories (from the best choice to the less good one):
              -
Postcards > America > United States > CA - California > Los Angeles,
              -  Postcards > America > United States > CA - California > Unclassified,
              -  Postcards > America > United States > Unclassified,
              -  Postcards > Unclassified.

Even though the moderators have been asked to move the items from a category "Other" to a more appropriate category, each seller can however put whatever item in the category "Unclassified".  This is thus  an alternative to save time when listing but which is not an advantage when it comes to selling.
